Without our clients we wouldn’t exist. It is important for us to know that we are giving it our best. Even if your comments aren’t the most flattering we hope to learn from them in order to achieve perfection.

Thank you for the loyalty and trust many of you have extended to us since 1990.

    Sincerely,

I wanted to express my gratitude for your expertice, experience and knowledge. Helping in my decisions regarding my Porsche 997 TT APR Stage II Tune has yielded the exact desired results. Amazing power and torque without the unnecessary expense of components that yield only marginal results at a significant cost. Its comforting dealing with a tuner/driver and not a sales department pushing the latest and greatest product since sliced bread.

I have been taking my cars to European Road and Racing since 1991. Karl and Martin are the most knowledgeable and honest mechanics in the area. I can not recommend them highly enough and I will never take my cars anywhere else.

Karl Troy and his team are simply the best at what they do. Highly professional super knowledgeable…and just as importantly, good people. Although I drive a non-exotic BMW 330CiC-ZHP, I never hesitate to drive up to N. Charleston to have the crew at ERR take care of all of my service and repair needs. In the not too distant future I also hope to have Karl do a few performance upgrades for me as well. Keep up the great work!

Karl I truly appreciate all that you did, if it hadn’t been for you and your skills I would not be enjoying these mountain curves in my M3 right now, I’m most impressed with the genuine care for your fellow car enthusiast. I only wish I was closer so I could take further advantage of your shops expertise.
    Thanks and God bless!

These guys get BMW’s (and a ton of other cars). They knew all the quirks of my 740il. They are great mechanics and great people. They are genuine and very honest. I never worry about getting repairs I did not need. I recommend them to all my friends.

The scope of expertise these guys have is amazing. Whether it is a way a clutch is mounted in a Ferrari to something mundane in a VW it is awesome. They always do a good job of putting the technical terms into language that anyone could understand.

I recommend them to all my friends and co-workers.

    Karl/Martin,

After a previous mechanic practically ruined my ’75 Volvo 242, I was a bit wary about where my other car, a ’98 Mercedes C-230, would get its repair work done. After a bit of searching and more than my fair share of apprehension, my son convinced me to take my Benz to you guys – and I am extremely glad that I did.

No where else in Charleston could you find such reputable and honest mechanics with excellent prices and I recommend everyone I know to go to you two all the time. Thank you for all the hard work and great service!

Just had my FVD exhaust installed to complete my APR stage II tune. So much torque and power my turbo linkage came loose and hoses needed adjustment. Now thats the type of issues I love to deal with. Following a simple visit/repair I am now hitting 17psi on boost and lovin it! Thanks Karl, I now have Mod Fever.

Karl Troy loves finely tuned and precision built machines but he treated my VW new beetle and me as if we had walked in with a Ferrari. I am, literally, a poor Hospice nurse who loves German engineered cars more than I value reason. My turbo is a problem child and I have to drive her all around the city of Charleston and outlying areas which puts a strain on her oil situation and the throttle body etc. etc. I do not want to trade her in for a car that a sixty year old woman should be driving. There is a God who directed me to talk to Karl even though there was a Porsche Turbo sitting out front and a Ferrari in the bay and pictures of Lamborghinis on the wall and I was sure I could not afford the services. Karl solves problems where other shops and dealerships take your money and more often than not leave the orignal problem to show up later. I feel blessed and am grateful there are people like him and his crew. With much admiration and thanks, Jo

I have taken my cars to Karl since ’91. He has helped me with my project cars (VW Corrados and Audi A4s) in the past and presently. I wasn’t able to think I could afford work at such an exotic garage; however, Karl and Martin are straight forward down to earth guys. Since graduating MUSC in 2003, I was blessed to make a phenomenal living and which allows me to afford more of the ‘Extras’ I want to do on my Vehicles. Today’s market makes me very skeptical. Karl and Martin are the most knowleagble and exceptional in this field. I have even introduced my colleagues to turn to ERR for maintenance instead of driving their Aston Martins and other exotics 5 hrs to Atlanta for service. Everyone is satisfied and you will be too.

Karl and family are the best! I appreciate Karl’s willingness to actually spend time with me explaining what my Porsche needs and the most economical way to do it. That is rare these days. As President of the Ferrari Club of America SC Chapter, one thing I can say about Karl is this: he is as honest as the day is long, and he will never provide you with anything but his best effort, which more often than not exceeds one’s expectation. Ferrari ownership is not inexpensive, but his prices are very reasonable, and I am highly recommending him to others.

What a wonderful experience for a female to go into an auto repair shop and be treated with respect. When they spoke to me they looked me directly in the eye. I checked with several other shops and got quotes and even took it to Geralds but they could never seem to come thru with the proper fitting front struts for my 95 525iT at a reasonable price. Martin and Karl both made me feel very comfortable and safe in my vehicle and had no problems accomodating my schedule. I will definitely do all of my car repairs thru ER&R going forward and encourage others to do so as well. They even do oil changes!!! Professional all the way!!

Karl and Martin are fantastic!! They squeezed me into their schedule when my 3.0 Z3 had an emergency. They worked patiently with me on recommending and installing performance upgrades. The upgrades have been in for a couple of years and I get a smile every time I hit the throttle hard. My wife’s 330 will be off warranty next year, and we won’t take her Bimmer anywhere but Karl and Martin’s place. Additionally, it is fun just to wander around and look at the exotic cars in their garage bays and lot.

Karl and Martin Troy are simply the best around. I’ve taken both my 928 and my boxster to them and they’ve been honest and have done a great job. I have used the local dealership and the other shops in the area.. and quite frankly they don’t measure up to European Road and Racing. I’m very fickle who touches my cars and without a hesitation I entrust my babies to these two. When I have a Ferrari in the near future, this number will be the first that I call. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but Karl and Martin Troy.

Recently Karl uploaded Dinan software to my 335i coupe. After less than an hour in the shop, I got what feels like a brand new car. Karl even made time to share with us a few stories from his racing days. I was surprised to receive a phone call that evening from Karl asking about how the car adapted to the software. I don’t remember my BMW dealer personally calling me after a service visit to check up on the car. Thanks for a very pleasant experience. The car is a beast now!

What can one say about the Troy brothers at European Road and Racing? Yes, I can begin by applauding their expertise. However, it’s their humanity that will stay with me forever. Back in November 2009, I had minor work done on my BMW. Unknowingly, I left my debit card in the ATM machine and did not have a credit card in my wallet. They allowed me to call in my payment the next day upon receipt of my new overnight debit card. I shall never forget this amazing kindness. On Monday, 1/25/2010, I went in with my steering wheel making this awful noise. Martin Troy’s immediate diagnosis was…problem with the power steering pump. Martin ordered the new pump, mine was still under warranty, and began work the next day replacing the old one at the time he said he would so that I could go on to work. Thanks Martin!!! Charleston drivers if you have a European car and it’s giving you problems, QUICKLY HEAD TO EUROPEAN ROAD AND RACING FOR PROMPT SERVICE WITH COMPASSION. Thanks again Troy brothers!!!!

I want to express my sincere thanks to Karl Troy for rebuilding the transmission in my 2004 Porsche Boxster S. Not the competition or the dealer were able to tackle this job much less within a few days notice. Karl worked all evening to call me after 9PM just to let me know that all was fine and not to worry about other things needing repair (I just bought the car).

That was just the best experience ever and I will always be back for anything that needs to be done.

Thanks a million! The car is great now!

In my 25 years of collecting and driving exotic cars, I have never met anyone as honest and capable as Karl Troy. Of all the mechanics I have known, Karl has set the bar for worldclass service, knowledge, and integrity that nobody else could possibly achieve all in one package.
I live 2 hours away but still find it worth my time and effort to see that him and his team will only work on my Ferraris and Porsches. He is now like family.
There are many so called “mechanics” out there to choose from, but when a friend recommended Karl Troy years ago, this was the best decision I ever made, period.

Drive at the fastest and safest speeds to Karl and crew. You will not be disappointed.

My short experience with their shop went something like this.

First contact via an email on a Sunday. He replied within an hour. Unexpected and a good sign.

Second contact via phone to schedule a reflash of my wife’s GTI ECU. Offers Saturday service because they are expecting a car to come in. That car delivery cancels but Karl doesn’t. Another good sign.

Third, Karl shoots for a special sale price through the vendor, but is upfront that it may not work out. What a professional approach.

Fourth, Karl calls to follow up and see how things are going. This is a high level of service for a small amount of work.

Fifth, they clearly love their job and it shows in their work and professionalism. That is always a reason to choose one group’s service over another IMO.

Contact them, you will see for yourself in short order.

I just want to thank Karl for the time he put in the other day on my Wife’s GTI. I bought the GTI locally and it had an APR program already in the car but it was one for when the car had a high pressure fuel pump. I took it up there he verified what program was in there and then gave me some advice on what to put back in there. Needless to say he was right, the car runs like a new car. He spent a good bit of time on the car and even took the the time out to take it for a spin and make sure everything was good. I will honestly say that from here on out he will be doing all the work on the car, from oil changes to whatever comes next.

Martin and Daniel were very helpful and courteous from start of the service process through leak resolution. We explained the problem on the phone he asked that the car be brought into their shop to diagnose the leak. Two days after he diagnosed the source of the leak, Martin called asking for for us to bring him the car, he had an immediate opening in his schedule. We are pleased to know the fellas at EUROPEAN ROAD AND RACING, they will be the folks that service our C Class for now and in the future. Martin finished the leak repair in under one hour, I did not get the benefit from the outrageous selection of Ferrari loaner cars they have….I may have to actually turn the car in for a days service to get one of those Ferrari loaners (LOL)

I’ve been familiar with European Road and Racing for a few years. My co-workers and friends have always taken their cars to them. It did not matter what they drove, whenever they pulled in for a service or to have special work done, it always seemed that their car was the most important car to them that day. When I finally bought my German dream car, it was obvious as to where my work was to be done. They have very fair prices, do excellent work and they never BS me. I would like to thank Karl and the his crew at European Road and Racing. I just so happened to stop by his shop one day and it turned out to be one of the best things I had ever done. Karl stopped what he was working on to look at my wife’s 05 Audi A4. He didn’t send me off telling me I needed to make an appointment for a later day. I told him that I would be leaving in a few days to go overseas and he assured me that if anything went wrong with the car to have my wife bring it by. Low and behold as soon as I got on the plane the car decided to catch the flu. My wife took the car back to Karl and he took care of everything and my wife’s audi runs better than it did when we purchased it a few months ago. Karl I would like to personally thank you for giving me a piece of mind knowing that my wife would have nothing to worry about when it came to her 05 Audi. Rest assured that our 05 Audi will never see Audi’s service department ever again. Audi is out to make a huge profit and you are out to take care of your customers! Your work and dedication to your customers have not gone un-noticed.

I bought my first Ferrari, a Superamerica, from a dealership in Florida last March. I live in Camden, SC and have a small place in Charleston. The dealership in Florida found European Road and Racings website for me. Once I saw the website, I knew my car would be in good hands when needed. I also have a BMW- I was parked at Town Center one day only to come back and find a card on my windshield – Karl Troy- European Road & Racing. Coincidence – maybe. I look at it as Devine intervention! Long story short, in Camden, Ferrari wouldn’t start. Old battery. I emailed Karl as to what I should or shouldn’t do. He called me immediately, we talked and he told me he was actually going to be near Camden the next day – could he bring a new battery and come to my house & put it in? Wow – Two weeks later I drove to Charleston to have the oil changed and told him about some small “problems”. Karl did a complete safety check – updated some software -probably spent more time on the car then he told me he did. The car now drives like a dream – all the insecurities I had are gone! Not only do I have a top notch place to take my car, but I also have made a special – hopefully lifelong friend. Karl, I can’t begin to thank you enough for all you did for me – you’re the best!

    Dear Karl:
I was provided with excellent service at your garage, and I truly appreciate it.
I can tell you that the prospect of having to spend hundreds of dollars, according to estimates I’d received elsewhere, was a dim one. Thankfully, I decided to opt for one more professional opinion before having my car repaired.
Your mechanics discovered that the real problem was due to a defective switch, and were able to replace it for a reasonable price. Needless to say, I breathed a sigh of relief!
I am highly pleased with the professional manner in which your mechanics serviced my automobile. You have definitely gained a new customer who will refer all of his friends to European Road and Racing.
    Sincerely,

Just wanted to thank Karl for the level of service he recently provided/let others know how positive an experience I had while working with ERR. I found ERR online while searching for an authorized Dinan dealer in SC (I live in Columbia) to install a Stage 2 flash on my ’08 535. We emailed/spoke several times and he was always exceptionally willing to answer any questions I had. Long before any sale was made he took time to explain the pros/cons of the tune as well answer all kinds of questions I had to help me make an informed decision. He was even willing to talk in depth about the N54 motor (high pressure fuel pump, turbo wastegate, ECU faults, etc.). He also provided contact info direct to Dinan and encouraged me to contact their offices as well to ensure I had as up to date info as possible. It was apparent from the beginning that he was committed to helping me make an informed decision/the right decision for my car, regardless of whether or not it resulted in a sale for his shop (can’t ask for anything more). Despite his parking lot looking like an exotic car dealership (he stays busy), he worked me in at my convenience coming from out of town. When my car wouldn’t clear a fault post flash he was on the phone with the folks at Dinan real time (fault cleared in no time…tricky X Drive…). Bottom line, I highly recommend ERR for those looking to purchase a Dinan product as well as for Karl’s awesome customer service. Oh, and the Stage 2 flash kicks ass!

European Road & Racing, the only shop I will ever take my Boxster S for service. I took her in for an oil change/check-up prior to a trip to Florida. Martin had the car ready to go in no time, with the caveat that the right-rear CV boots needed replacement. Thinking back to when I had my car in for service at the only local “authorized” Porsche service center, I was expecting to head down to Florida in my wife’s Pacifica. I should have known better, Karl and Martin slid my car into their busy schedule and had her ready to go before I got off work!

I took my 2004 Mk4 VW GTi in today for an APR Stage 1 reflash. I could not be happier, I drove back home with a grin on my face the whole way. The car is a different animal now, much more balanced, torquey, and fast.

Karl is one of the dying breed of honest businessmen, and just a great guy: Me being a rookie he could’ve told me to spend a lot more on random parts, but he recommended only what was needed which was the chip tuning.

Judging by the Porsche, Maserati, and Ferrari owners who trusted you with their cars, I knew I could trust you with my Volkswagen. I’ll definitely be back for more upgrades, and for a ride in your Turbo!

    Sincerely,

Sometimes, out of what might be the most terrible situation, something happens that absolutely is the very best. My Audi started having problems on the way to Charleston, SC to visit John and when we got here it was obvious it wouldn’t make it back without getting attention. Suggestion on the QuattroWorld forum led me to Karl Troy at… European Road and Racing in North Charleston. http://EuropeanRoadandRacing.com/ Despite an overflowing workload, Karl made room and got my car in. What at first appeared simple turned out to be more complex and required an extra couple of hours of work and another night in the shop. But, Karl and his guys Matt and Ben did an incredible job and have the allroad running the best it’s ever been. Karl, showing how passionate he is about doing the very best job for his customers, called me to say the car was ready this morning and he would drive over to pick me up so he could get extra time in the car to make sure all was well. A few minutes later he arrived, and after having showed me that an allroad can indeed be well controlled when sideways, we arrived back at his shop. All I can say is this guy is superb. And if you have an Audi, VW, BMW or Lambo, Ferrari or Ultima, you must see Karl.

I have a Porsche that Karl has serviced for over a year. He and his staff are the most professional and knowledgeable people around. Their integrity is what brought me to them and they show it every day.The value they provide is far more than the price they charge, which is very fair and reasonable. Thank you Karl. Chip

I contacted Karl to inquire about replacing the tires on my 2003 Boxster S, and asked if I should purchase the OEM tires (PS2′s). Karl’s sage advice saved me over $600, and his team’s install was quick and professional. I also got the oil changed at the same time as the tire replacement, and my car was still ready to go before I got off work! Once again you and your team have proven why you’re the most trusted and respected repair shop in the country.
P.S. Please thank the young man who saw fit to wash my dirty rims after the tire install; that’s customer service!

I will always recommend European Road Racing to anyone for service of their vehicle. I have been a customer for a little over two years now and am greatly appreciative of the service, honesty and integrity I always receive. As a female, taking your vehicle for repairs can be a scary experience. Often times as a woman, I’ve received poor service at high costs, NEVER HERE! Karl and Martin have been nothing but truthful and explained any repairs to be done or needing to be done. I can’t say enough how much I appreciate them both. Honesty, reasonable prices, customer service, reliability and integrity all in one place.

    A loyal customer,
    Owner, 2003 BMW 325i

Karl Troy and his team know how to take care of their customers. I showed up at 5:30pm unannounced to inquire about having new tires fitted later that week and Karl asked his team to fit four new tires immediately on my 1988 Carrera because my original tires were worn to dangerous levels. They had my car ready with four new tires in about 30 minutes. The tires were balanced to perfection. This is the kind of customer service that goes beyond what anyone would normally expect. Thanks to all at European Road and Racing.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for the outstanding service i recieved earlier this week on an ECU flash for a 2011 VW GTI. Karl always kept me informed on how things were going while i was waiting and took me for a test drive post flash to show me what it would do. Thanks again and i will definantly go there again for other work in the future!

Thanks to Karl and his team. They rally took care of my 1967 VW convertible. She runs like new. European Road and Racing is one of the best when it comes to special treatment for cars, even if it is a challenge. ER&R has the solution. Thanks a lot, Jan

Hello Karl. I hope your dinner and much deserved bev were as good as my car is now running. Thank you very much for your fine work, service, and diagnosis. No more clunk and the Boxster runs great. I’ll let my brother (he has a 2006 Cayenne Turbo) know I’ve found an A+++ place for service. And anyone else for that matter… that needs quality service done.
